The National Sales Manager is responsible for conversion of new business as well as the management, retention and penetration of existing business. This role focuses on corporate business, national/state association business and local executives in convention facilities that represent the convention & tradeshow industry. The National Sales Manager will identify and secure request for proposal (RFP) opportunities and will be responsible for analyzing numerous variables in developing the best solution to meet the customer’s needs while maintaining company goals and objectives.


  • Develops creative proposals and presentation materials, floor plans, rate sheets, artistic renderings, etc. for current and potential clients as necessary.
  • Develops budgets and proposals in sales process to secure trade show and event business.
  • Prepares and executes proposals, sales presentations and contracts for current and potential accounts and performs all necessary functions to ensure the contract is secured for GES.
  • At times, directs the development of floor plans and show management designs based on the knowledge of the convention facility and fire marshal regulations
  • Initiates show production with the Account Management Team to effectively meet clients’ needs as well as working with clients from a consultative basis
  • Engaged at show site during move in, show open and dismantle to ensure clients needs are met
  • At times, attends national, regional IAEE, PCMA & ESCA meetings; meets with clients out of town as required; participates in GES client events throughout the year
  • Works in cooperation with GES National Credit & Collections personnel to implement credit policies and obtain advance deposit and final payment when necessary
  • Acts as a consultant and partners with the client while appropriately representing the Company.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the general and specific trends of competitors and of the Trade Show Industry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and deemed necessary of the position under the direction of the Vice President, National Sales or Director of Sales
  • Account size and revenue volume
    • Individual Volume – Normally $6 Million or more
    • Sells to medium or large accounts (Greater than $500 or greater than $1 million)



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of face-to-face sales experience within the exhibition, event, hotel, convention or trade show industries
  • Proven ability to initiate and manage sales cycles which includes preparing proposals, pricing strategies, oral/written presentations, negotiating and closing.
  • Expertise in developing sales plans and targeting potential customers utilizing Target Account Selling (TAS) to monitor and build pipeline opportunities
  • Superior oral and written communication skills including the ability to deliver a polished, professional presentation
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Oracle &

Work Environment

      • Moderate travel required – up to 35%
