    Responsibilities

    • Work under general supervision from designated supervisor.
    • Process new hire and change transactions for union employees timely and accurately.
    • Verify accuracy of data entry and correct setup of taxes and deductions.
    • Monitor for incoming daily timecards, new hire and change transaction paperwork
    • Communicate daily to appropriate personnel when expected timecards are not received
    • Perform quality review of timecards, new hire and change transaction paperwork to ensure compliance with company guidelines
    • Place timecards, new hire and change transaction paperwork not meeting company standards in a rework status
    • Denote issue(s) on rework new hire and change transaction paperwork and forward to appropriate personnel for review and correction by communicated deadline
    • Route timecards, new hire and change transaction paperwork to the appropriate processor queue timely for data entry.
    • Distribute checks and direct deposit vouchers timely and in accordance with company policy, union agreements and federal and state regulations.
    • Assist employees and management with questions, concerns or requests regarding payroll. This includes properly applying technical knowledge and skills, communicating and listening effectively.
    • Gather and report metrics.
    • Manage workflow to ensure all transactions are processed timely and accurately.
    • Review payroll documents for compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Research and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with employees and departments.
    • Prepare employee documentation for scanning or filing. Ensure records are maintained in accordance with record retention requirements.
    • Stay current on regulatory, legal and other payroll developments to foresee and/or address payroll initiatives and issues.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience

    • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) desired
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Three to five years multi-state payroll processing experience
    • Data entry experience
    • Solid understanding and working knowledge of payroll processes and systems, particularly in an union environment
    • Strong knowledge of state and federal payroll regulations, with an emphasis on multi-state and local taxation.Skills/Competencies:
