Overview

The objective of the Design Project Manager position is to obtain and apply new knowledge applicable to GES business needs, that eventually will result in new or improved products & processes that will increase sales and profits. Three areas of improvement will be expected; customer satisfaction, operational efficiencies and ease of design engagement. The central focus will be the enhancement and new development of GES exhibition, exhibit and event standard design components. To include all modular systems, 3rd party supplied fabrications, graphic production, standard GES offerings and specialty products. 

Responsibilities

People

  • Position will coordinate with members of other departments within GES to ensure that the project meets the strategic and business goals of GES.
  • Attend regular meetings with the business development managers within GES. Reports will be prepared of the research that has been performed and presentations made in front of senior management.
  • Participate in all lean six programs that address aligning initiatives.

 

Process

  • Design Element Research & Development
  • Conducts a thorough study to support the project.
  • Determine product specifications, production costs and a production time line.
  • Prototyping to ensure it is a functional product that customers want to use.
  • Developed product must meet the product guidelines and any regulatory specifications.
  • Work with operations/manufacturing to identify value engineering opportunities on new construction and existing construction.

Deliverables

  • Regularly evaluates the products offered by the company to ensure they are still functional. Recommend potential changes or upgrades.
  • Resolve problems with an existing product that malfunctions or to find a new solution if the manufacturing process must change.
  • Coordinates quality checks on products created by GES and suppliers.
  • Intimate knowledge of the requirements and specifications of a particular project. This allows team members to ensure the products meet those standards so the company puts out quality products.

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor degree with at least 3 years of experience in the area of product development and or research and development.
  • Experience in retail layout and fixture design and/or experience in tradeshow, museum or art exhibit design and layout.
  • Must have strong structural design skills that are focused on the end product.
  • Strong communication skills the promote dialog and team building with internal and external business partners.
  • Strong organizational & analytical skills.
  • Software skills should include AutoCAD, Excel and a project management program.
  • Able to work in multiple environments including office, shop, warehouse, vendor locations and show site.
