The Executive Director is responsible for driving a culture of solution delivery that emphasizes and enables IT delivery of projects and programs on time, on budget, and with quality.  Solution delivery should happen within the context of well understood and communicated standard project management methodology.  Delivery should be guided by standard IT roadmaps aligned with the business and encompassing high-profile initiatives for global ERP platform transformation, Human Capital Management, M&A integration, and a robust docket of projects across multiple business lines and functions.  In addition to developing standard Project Management Office capabilities and oversight, the Executive Director must be prepared to take a hands-on leadership role in the execution of the most strategic initiatives, like the GES Time and Attendance System deployment.  The Executive Director will also be responsible for oversight of the IT Operations Team that provides IT Field and Tradeshow support.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with IT and Business Leadership to develop and maintain a capital initiatives program budget, execution roadmap and resource plan leveling for the IT asset portfolio.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business Leadership to ensure that programs are leveraging the following:
    • A Project Management Lifecycle Strategy to manage project intake all the way from concept thru delivery.  It is of particular importance that this Strategy include a framework for green-lighting projects or initiatives, toll-gating in-flight initiatives to ensure phase deliverables are achieved, etc.
    • A Project Portfolio Management strategy, starting with an initial baseline, and updated quarterly on program actual progress against plan, along with risks, to the leadership of IT and the company as a whole.
    • A repeatable, scalable Project Management Delivery Framework and methodology for driving and measuring successful delivery.
  • Leadership oversight for all Project Managers and Project Management activities, ensuring accountability for delivering project and program goals according to the Project Management Delivery Framework.
  • Collaborate with the IT Finance support team to manage all aspects of IT Initiatives Capital Plan strategy on an annual plan cycle, including project sizing and scoping, capital budgeting, budget timing, etc.
  • Manage and support the IT Department’s efforts in conforming to the company’s Investment Proposal process related to IT project activity.
  • Collaborate with Business, IT and Program Leadership to ensure risk identification, assessment, mitigation and communication to minimize impact and probability of risks.
  • Manage complex business issues arising from the implementation of new processes or functions
  • Creating a culture of Client and Customer focus, measurement and continuous improvement in project execution as well as IT operations and field support.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10 or more years’ experience with clear demonstration of progressive achievement and growth up to leading a Project Management Organization or Project Office.
  • Implementation experience in Oracle EBS, and Kronos Time and Attendance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams executing a portfolio of projects ranging from large, complex, full-lifecycle projects, to midsize and small efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large programs in complex matrixed organizations.
  • Proven experience managing IT Project Portfolio Management in a corporate setting.
  • Proven experience and success managing annual capital budgets of at least $10M, and departmental/project/operating annual budgets of $2M or more.
  • Proven experience with managing enterprise solution delivery partners and the complex engagement portfolios.
  • Experience operating a PMO within a public company’s financial operational process flows as they apply to IT projects, with demonstrated commitment both to control adherence as well as budgeting concepts (i.e., understanding the difference between capital and expense when budgeting for a project initiative), as well as an understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Strong knowledge of developing Project Management and Solution Delivery Lifecycle frameworks that are baselined against third-party standards, such as the following: PMBOK, Oracle AIM, Waterfall, Agile/Scrum.
  • Superior verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak to technical-level staff and develop written reporting and presentational content with level-appropriate messaging up to and including the senior executive level.
  • Utilize project management software tools, such as MS Project, Jira, and other tools, to effectively lead, manage, monitor and control project activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment, particularly in cross-functional teams across multiple lines of business, over whom there may be influence but not direct authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in environments where resources are distributed globally.
  • Self-motivated and a problem solver
  • Experienced in meeting facilitation and requirements negotiation with business users
  • Role will require 20% or more travel.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in IT or Business.
  • Project and/or program management certification
  • Lean process improvement (i.e., Six Sigma) certification
  • Working knowledge of 3rd party Project Portfolio Management software
  • Experience with a variety of software, hardware, and SaaS licensing models and related programs and systems, as well as vendor management and contract negotiation.
